Check please!
Lauren, Xander and I were having lunch at a great little cheesesteak place (Chubby's) the other day. Xander was turned around in our booth, all up in the space of the three guys in the booth behind us. Next thing I know, he sneezes! All over the guys in the booth behind us! I turned around and see that he has sneezed spit all over one of the guys' jacket. What is a mother to do? I wiped his jacket off and apologized a hundred times while failing to hold back the laughter. Lauren and I just looked at each other, then at the waitress: "Check please!"
Mother's Day
Ok, ok... I know this is over a week late, but would you expect any different from me.
To all of my mother's, grandmothers, aunts and pseudo-aunts, and mother-friends:
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!!!!
To my mom: You are the example of the kind of mother I want to be!
To Brian's mom: Thank you for raising a wonderful, loving, caring, kind man.
I had a GREAT Mother's Day this year. I was a little worried at first because up until the day before, Brian kept asking me what I wanted for Mother's Day (not a good sign, but I know that he knows I'm picky). I finally decided my answer: I want the day off and some pampering. And that is what I got. Brian got up with Xander, fed him, dressed him, tended him all day, made a delicious dinner, and cleaned the house (and I had left it very messy, so it was definitely a big job). After putting Xander to bed, he gave me a pedicure - the works (which was awesome since I can't touch my feet so well these days) and watched "PS I Love You" with me. I have decided that I want the same thing every Mother's Day: the day off and some pampering! Thanks honey!

Hez's Graduation

Sorry I haven't posted about this yet, but Happy Graduation Hezzie! Don't you love how our bellies are invading the graduates space? I didn't get any good pictures on my camera, but my mom did. (I don't know how to make her name link to her website so: www.kanewoman.blogspot.com)
We had a great time in Utah for Hez's graduation. We had a baby shower for Katie ("She's Growing a Baby" was the theme); graduation (two days) and a graduation party for Hez; Brian was able to miss some school and join us (and surprise his mom) in Utah; we had a nice visit with the Boston's and saw Erica's new house; a Kane family trip (with all of the husband's finally) to Idaho to visit my 92 year old great aunt Bessie (she's young as ever); eating at Big Jud's, OG, Thai food, Cafe Rio, Winger's, Sonic, Red Robin, lots of Maverick caffeine free Diet Coke, plus all of the yummy food we cooked at Hezzie's; visiting with the McCaul's and Brian's mom; pictures with the cousins; lunch with Amber; an entire "hair" day with Jan; visiting with friends; and of course lots of shopping.
Baby Girl update
The heartburn has begun! Uggghhhh!
She is currently bouncing around in there... like I'm popping popcorn or something! My whole stomach is bouncing around.
I was much happier during my first pregnancy when I didn't know the consequences of gaining so much weight. Fat and happy. This time I'm just fat and annoyed... but I can't stop making Lauren's chocolate chip cookies!
32 weeks tomorrow. I have a Dr appt in the afternoon. Call me crazy, but I love going to my dr appts and I'm excited that they are becoming more frequent. It's mandatory "me" time to sit and read a magazine. I love it... even though I'm sitting on butcher paper the whole time.

camping
So in our 3 years of marriage, we have not been able to go camping, until this weekend. On Thursday night, we went camping with our friends, the Sperry's. We went to this beautiful campground on a lake about an hour away. The drive there was absolutely gorgeous... green, green, green everywhere you looked. Since it was pre-Memorial Day, the campground was practically empty which was nice so we could have some privacy and really feel like we were secluded out in the woods.
We made foil dinners and dutch oven dessert, then sat around the campfire chatting and making smores. It was so much fun! ....Until bedtime.
7 months pregnant + sleeping on the ground = AGONY!
After about 3 hours of agony and no sleep, I decided to sleep in the car. It was very comfortable, compared to the ground. Xander had other plans for me. He was being super clingy and cuddly, and he wouldn't stop crying unless I was cuddling him. He wanted nothing to do with Brian, and he even told him to "go outside". So, I finally fell asleep holding Xander, until 8am when I knew he was really asleep and I moved to the car.
It started raining in the middle of the night, so we packed up our stuff in the rain (ie threw everything into the car in one wet, jumbled mess).
When we got home, we unpacked and repacked all of our stuff so Brian and Xander could go camping again.
Friday night was the Father-and-Son Campout. All of our friends were bringing their little boys, so Brian brought Xander. When they left in the rain with a car full of wet camping gear, I could see the fear in Brian's eyes. I was very nervous myself, but I sent them on their way and spent the evening at a Girls Night Out with friends where I found out that all of the other dads with little kids stayed home due to the rain.
Well, in spite of the rain, they had a great time. I guess as soon as they got there, Xander started saying "Go home". But once they watched a moving in their tent, he was happy. He actually slept pretty good until 4 or 5 am, when he woke up from a flashlight shining in their tent. So they got up and went for a walk and Brian pushed Xander on the swings while the sun came up. They had a big breakfast with the whole group, then packed up and came home. They were home by 10, soaking wet and tired.
If we can maybe find a not so rainy weekend and bring an air mattress for me next time, we will definitely be going camping again soon. Anyone in?

McDonalds
So Brian and I went to a picnic the other day, and decided to go thru the drive-thru of McDonalds to pick up some salads on the way. Here is how it went:
Drive-thru lady: "What can I get you?"
Brian: "We just need a minute."
lady (with no pause): "What do you want?"
Mind you her accent is so thick, we can't understand most of what she is saying... plus, she is mumbling.
Brian: "Um, ok, what is on the Southwest Chicken Salad?"
lady: "Uh, vegetables...."
Really?!? Vegetables in a salad?
Brian: "What else, and what kind of vegetables?"
lady: "corn and... {mumble, mumble, mumble,} and, uh, tomatoes."
Brian: "Ok, sure we'll take one of those."
