Random Stuff

I'm 37 weeks today.  Tonight is my Baby Shower.  Thanks Lauren!  We set up the bassinett and packed our bags.  It's getting closer.  Any day now... but probably not.  Once I cut Brian's hair, get my own done, file my papers, and get our camera in the mail: then she can come.  I even shaved my legs today, but they will probably be hairy again by the time she comes.... such is life.

Xander is a klutz lately.  Right now he has a bruise on his head and a fat lip.  He fell and hit his head on a corner at his friends house last week, and it swelled up about an inch off his face immediately.  It was on a vein, and I thought it was going to burst.  Then the next day, he fell and hit his head in the same spot on the corner of our ottoman.  Yesterday, he tripped over his own feet and hit his chin on the concrete, cutting his lip in two places with his teeth.  There was blood everywhere.  We let him suck on some ice cubes (one of his favorite things to do) and he was fine.  Even though he is a cry-er when it comes to emotional stuff, he is pretty tough with physical pain.  He pretty much cried more about having ice on his owies than he did about actually getting them.

And speaking of Xander being emotional:  Our friends put on a kids race the other day at the HS track.  Brian and I had a prenatal class to go to, so our friends brought him to the race for us.  When the horn was blown, and the kids took off, and all of the parents started cheering: Xander started crying.  He just stood at the starting line and bawled because he was scared of all the cheering.  Oh, my sweet boy.

Happy Birthday Xander!

Alexander turned -2- on Saturday!  We spent the day at the zoo with his friend Hailey and her family. (Pictures to be posted later.)  Then we headed to the park for a BBQ with some more friends.

Our grill-man: Brett

Alexander blowing out his candle (it was in the shape of a two... that is why there was only one).  He actually tried to sniff it, instead of blow it, so Mommy ended up blowing it out while showing him how to.

He got LOTS of presents for his birthday.  All of his girl-friends were very interested in all his new stuff and wanted to help him get them unwrapped ASAP!  His favorite toy was definitely the sandbox from Grandma Ivory.  It's just the right size for our balcony, so he can make "castles" any day of the week.

Having fun at the park.  He knows how to climb into this toy, but then sits there saying "help" to get out.

36 weeks

Here you go, Katie...

Drummer Boys

Here is a funny video of my boys jammin' out with Denver (guitar in the background). I'm not sure why Xander is crying... could be that he is afraid of loud noises (he cries everytime people cheer too loud at sporting events), or because Brian was playing "his" drum (or "drump" as he calls it).

Memorial Day Weekend

For Memorial Day weekend this year, we went to NH with our friends, the Farnsworth's.  We went to "the Flume" in the White Mountains.  It was just as cool as I remember it being when I was young... a little harder to navigate being probably 140 lbs heavier than I was back then, but I made it thru the 2 mile hike.  Bethie, Tyler and William were able to come with us too (no pics of them cause we forgot our camera).  Tyler was having a very hard time wrapping his head around the fact that we had to spend $12 to go on a hike.  I hope it was worth it, Tyler.  It was nice to be able to spend some time with them.  Here is a pic of us and the Farnsworth's in front of one of the many waterfalls.
When we got back from our hike, we had a delicious meal of Maine lobster, Meathouse meat, and corn on the cob (from the farm stand down the street... best corn you'll ever eat!).  It was amazing!  All of it!  Thanks mom and dad!
On Sunday night, we went to Hampton Beach to see a Memorial Day fireworks display.  The beach was freezing cold... 60 degrees and very windy!  Not exactly beach weather.   But we had a good time.  Brian and I were excited about it because 2 years ago,to the day, Brian proposed to me on that same beach.  It was fun to reminisce while watching fireworks.  Here is Xander and his best friend Hailey playing in the sand.  Their little feet were freezing cold, but they were having fun.  These two always have fun together... it is so cute to see them play together (especially since my boy is normally such a loner :)
On Monday, we watched the Milton Memorial Day parade from a couch on the front lawn.  That's right, my parents have a couch on their front lawn (with a FREE sign on it).  Whilst we were sitting there in our pjs, waving at all the people I knew in the dinky parade going past (police car, fire trucks, veterans, unicycle club, and boy scouts), Brian asked me if I was at all embarassed... "About what" I said, " This ridiculous parade, or the fact that I'm sitting in my jammies on a couch on the front lawn?"  I could choose to be embarassed by the whole thing, or I could just laugh at it.  This is where I'm from.  All of these people I know in the parade have seen countless things on our front lawn, and have seen us in our pjs in our yard, and as for the parade... "Go Nute Rams!"  This is the silly little town I'm from and I love it!

Monday afternoon, we went to York Beach and saw the Nubble Lighthouse and played on the playground at the beach.  Not quite as chilly as Hampton, but still cold, so no swimming for us (there was a crazy girl in a bikini, however, diving into the North Atlantic waves.... brrrrrrrrr)

Tuesday was homeward bound.  Brian and I lounged around all morning then met up with my parents for lunch on the way out of town, then met up with my pseudo-brother/best-friend-since-I-was-born Josh W for dinner at a pizza place in NYC.

And that is our Memorial Day weekend trip to NH in a VERY LARGE nutshell!

Blogging-slacker

Okay, okay.... I know I have been a blogging-slacker. Our camera has been on the fritz, so it's been a matter of tracking down pictures from friends cameras of all of the adventures we've had. And we've had adventures!

  • We've been camping twice.
  • We went to the "shore".
  • We've had bbqs with friends.
  • Lots of swimming at the swimming pool, with each of us taking our turn having nasty sunburns.
  • We went to a Phillies game, and tailgated with friends.

I will post pictures of these adventures as I round them up, but needless to say, we've been gettin' all the fun in before this baby comes and we are the parents of two!

Cool Boots

Here we have Alexander modeling his new boots that he got for his birthday from his Aunt Hezzie and Aunt Katie. Mind you, it was about 100 degrees out this day, and we were headed to the pool, but he insisted on wearing his new "cool" boots. I woke up the morning he got them in the mail to a little voice next to my head saying, "I got cool boots. Mom, I got cool boots!" I turned and looked, and he's standing there in his jammies with these boots on! So funny! He puts them on himself, so they are usually on the wrong feet, and he wears them ALL of the time. I got him ready for church this morning (flip flops and all), and I went into the other room to get something, and I come out and he's got his boots on! I usually let him wear them when he wants to, but on a hot day to church..... He wore his flip flops. Thanks Aunties, 'cause he loves his "cool" new boots.

PS-
DAY 1: wore the boots to the pool
DAY 2: wore the boots to the mall
DAY 3: wore the boots around the house
DAY 4: wore the boots to Young Women's mutual
DAY 5: wore the boots to babysitting group at the Roger's
DAY 6: wore the boots to the movies to see "Kung Fu Panda"
DAY 7: wanted to wear the boots to church, but mommy wouldn't let him... wore them to dessert at the Farnsworth's

Xander sayings

Xander to my belly: "Baby come out and see us. Go 'a Xander, we go Buddy Grammy's house."

On the way to church....
BRIAN: "Xander, see Chubby's? Do you want to go to Chubby's?" (Chubby's is our fave cheesesteak place. Xander knows it well, and loves going there.)
XANDER: *whine* "Noooo. I wanna go to church!"

During sacrament meeting, our friend Charles was being confirmed....
XANDER: (watching intently) "He get the Holy Ghost!" (He then proceeded to say this over and over again, with volume)

During a baptism...
XANDER: (pointing at the font) "I get baptized."
KELLEY: "You can get baptized, but not today. You can get baptized in six years."
XANDER: "In six years.... I get baptized."
